Gallery Opening

I'm happy to announce I am part of a group show at Creative Spaces KC! The art show opens on November 7 which is a First Friday. Creative Spaces KC is a new gallery and event space in the West Bottoms:

The gallery is open on November 7 from from 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., and Saturday, November 8 from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Creative Spaces will provide some snacks and refreshments. Stop on by to check it out! I will be exhibiting four photographs from a recent project:

I like to think that the West Bottoms are like NYC's Soho in the 1970s. Kind of edgy and deserted still but lots of artists and creative professionals moving into the area and revitalizing it. I have visions of myself living in some crazy gigantic warehouse circa 1972 with a fire in a big barrel, working on my photography with fingerless gloves on, the cold air barely warmed by the fire. Ahh, Soho. I was born too late for your glory days. Now it's a neighborhood for the rich and famous, where you run into Blake Lively at Anya Hindmarch and Prada. Here's to exploring the new spaces in the West Bottoms instead!

Star Power

A huge thank you to Jenee Osterheldt at the Kansas City Star for her great write up of Christina Lundeen Photography in today's paper. It's on the front page of the FYI section next to an article named "For a Gourd Time." View the article now:

As someone who is usually behind the camera, I'll even show you the photo they ran of me!

Gracik Family Photos

There must be something in the water here in Kansas City because everyone I have photographed so far is so darn cute! The Gracik family was no exception. On Sunday, I continued my residency at Loose Park and Denise and Mike brought their lovely family to the park to join me. I especially liked Emma's hat...

Sher Family Photos

Heidi and Andrew paid me another visit this weekend in Loose Park. In August, I did photos for Heidi's side of the family and this time it was Andrew's family's turn. With 8 adults and 6 kids, it was one of the larger groups I have photographed and I was pleased with how well the shoot went. Not even a leaky diaper on my littlest subject could dampen the fun!

Webb Family Photos

Today was a gorgeous fall day here in Kansas City and we took advantage of the great outdoors at Loose Park. With multiple families booked for my monthly special in Loose Park, I hit the park with the backdrop of marathon runners. It was the KC Marathon today and I'm glad I was taking photos instead of running!

The Webb Family joined me bright and early at the park. Jeff and Jill brought their two children for a fall family portrait and we got to work in no time. Check out their great fall outfits. Lauren had on a killer pair of tights which I thought were really cute.

Restoring Old Family Photos

One of my very good friends lost her Grandpa about a month ago and she wanted to have a picture of her Grandpa for her family as well as the rest of her relatives. She found this old photo which I lovingly scanned and restored:

We are now printing copies for her whole family and framing them so Grandpa can be with everyone. I think this is a really beautiful project. I love the photo as it reminds me of my Grandpa George and Grandpa Carl who were both tough and loving Iowa farmers! Speaking of restoring old photos, I restored this one of my Grandparents. Doesn't it make you want to have a rootbeer down by the stream on your farm?

Friday Afternoon Art Project

I've been obsessing over an old photo by Edward Steichen and decided to do a little Friday afternoon art project in honor of this picture of Gloria Swanson taken in the 20s:

Here are my photos:

Gorgeous Girl Portraits

I had the pleasure of working with Heather on some super glam black and white portraits at my studio yesterday. She wanted some hot new pics as a little Christmas surprise for her new honey!
I have to say, working with women on portraits is one of the most rewarding photo shoots I can do. I hear women say "Ugggggg....I look terrible in photos" way too often and I love showing a woman how beautiful she can be in her very own work of art. Check out some of the doozies from the session with Heather. What a gorgeous girl!

Darling Photos from the Darling Room

I was back at the Darling Room on First Friday with my trusty photo booth in tow. The Darling Room hosted a "Beauty Fair" which included manicures, makeup sessions, blowouts, styles and even facial massage. Oh, and lest I forget, there was also a cotton candy machine. Do you know that cotton candy is called fairy floss in Australia? I could eat my own body weight in fairy floss. I love it so much.

I took some adorable pictures in my photo booth including this family. Nearly as sweet as a whole bag of cotton candy:

These photo strips also brought a smile to my face:

Why not have me at your next event or party with my photo booth? Photo strips make a great party favor!

Aussie Rules Football: Not for Wimps

My husband is originally from Melbourne, Australia and grew up playing Australian Rules Football. Picture a combination of American football, soccer and rugby and throw in some extremely short shorts and no pads and you've got Aussie Rules. There is always some horrible injury during a game since it's pretty rough and tumble and I pray Bruce will come home in one piece every Saturday. That said, he loves the playing the game and I go watch him when I get a chance. The boys played at Gilham Park the other day and I captured some shots during the game. I've honed my sporting photography skills on the sideline of Bruce's games so I'm your gal when it comes to sports photography!
